Mallard 2800CP

One machine, every patient. Even in the MRI.

A combined anesthesia ventilator that covers your full patient range, from a draft horse to a small exotic, and holds steady through procedures that run for hours.
18L ascending bellows
Sized for every patient.
10–70 cm H₂O pressure
Adjustment ranges.
10–200 LPM flow
Adjustment ranges.
MRI-conditional available
A fully-pneumatic variant
For equine & zoological practice

A draft horse. A tiger. A house cat. All on one machine.

Made for equine and zoological practice
From the busiest equine hospital to the zoo's surgery suite, it's the one ventilator sized for every patient.
Switch the patient, not the machine
Most machines handle only large or small animals. The 2800CP does both - swap between an 18-liter and a 2.2-liter bellows and absorber circuit on the same unit.
The standard vets are trained on
Used by the top 25 veterinary schools in the US and 22 worldwide, and named the standard of care in Lumb&Jones.
Mallard 2800CP

The ventilator vets have trusted for decades.

One machine for equine and zoo teams alike. From a 1,000-pound horse to the smallest exotic — run the same way, every time.
Ascending bellows
See every breath. Sized for equine, bovine, and the largest zoological patients.
Two setups, one cart
Big or small, switch the bellows and the machine is sized to the patient in front of you.
Engineered in California
Four decades of craft in every machine. The standard taught in every major vet school.
MRI-compatible
A fully-pneumatic variant for the MRI suite. No electricity.
Two in one
Anesthesia and ventilation, married into one machine. Your patient stays exactly as deep as you set them.
Wheel it to the patient
Locking wheels roll it wherever it's needed, so the machine comes to the animal -  not the other way around.
Durability and loyalty

Bellows you can see.
Not hidden in a housing.

The ascending bellows stay out in the open, rising and falling with every breath, so the whole team can see the patient is breathing in real time.
Switch in a snap
A large-animal and a small-animal bellows both live on the cart. Switch to the one that fits the patient, and the same machine is ready, whatever its size.
Spot a leak early
The bellows rise and fall with each breath, so the team can confirm breathing from across the table. And if the circuit leaks, they fail to refill and visibly collapse.
Gas balancing valves
The bellows rise and fall with each breath, so the team can confirm breathing from across the table. And if the circuit leaks, they fail to refill and visibly collapse.
Durability and loyalty

Controls you can feel.
Safeguards you can trust.

Microprocessor control. Physical knobs. A clear LCD. Every adjustment deliberate. Every reading immediate.
Real knobs, not a touchscreen
Set every value by hand, and read inspiratory time, rate and I:E ratio at a glance on a large, clear LCD.
Manual breath push-button
With the push-button, you can keep ventilating straight from the gas supply if the power or electronics fail.
Three independent alarms
An adjustable governor caps pressure at 80 cm H₂O, with visual and audible alerts for a missed cycle, low gas, or lost power. (Only for the electric version)

Only for the electric version.

Optional MRI-conditional model

Built to work
inside the MRI.

Most anesthesia machines have to stay outside the scanner room. Our MRI-conditional model doesn't. With no electronics and no ferrous metal, it runs on gas alone, staying at your patient's side throughout the scan. Tested at 3 Tesla.
Fully pneumatic. Zero electronics.
Runs on oxygen or air alone. No power, and nothing to interfere with the scan.
Non-ferrous throughout.
Not a trace of magnetic metal, so it's safe right up against the bore.
Tested at 3 Tesla.
Proven in the high-field magnets used across clinical MRI.
Durability and loyalty

Buy it once.
Trust it for a career.

For an equine hospital or teaching program, this is a once-in-a-career purchase — and it's built to earn that. Many Mallards built in the 1990s are still in service today and over a working life it costs the least to own.

PRECISION VENTILATION

Quiet enough to think over, strong enough to count on.

Extremely quite & smooth in operation

The Mallards are some of the quietest anesthesia ventilator on the market - tested at just 61 dB on the small animal system and 66 dB on the large animal system, about the level of a normal conversation. The quiet, smooth operation reduces stress in the surgical environment, so your team can communicate clearly and focus on the patient, not the machine.

Rolls to the patient. Locks for the procedure.

On its portable chassis with locking casters, the Mallards moves easily between prep, surgery, and imaging - then locks firmly in place for the duration of the procedure. When the patient can't come to you, from an equine recovery stall to a zoo holding area, the machine goes where it's needed.

No disassembly required for cleaning

The bellows clean in place - no teardown, no removed parts, no service visit. Routine cleaning and maintenance can be handled in-facility by your own qualified techs, which means less downtime and a machine that stays in service, procedure after procedure.
